The Kentucky Delta Rural Project (KDRP) is funded by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Office of Rural Health Policy. It operates to: 1) enhance health resources and services in Kentucky’s 19 rural Mississippi River Delta counties; 2) improve the health status of service area residents; and 3) increase access to health care services, notably for low-income and uninsured residents.

KDRP receives guidance from a Consortium that includes health, social service, and educational entities, and from a Regional Advisory Council made up of consumers from the 19-county Service area. Trover Health System, located in Madisonville, is the grant recipient and administrator.

KDRP is focused on three major areas of activity: 1) a school wellness initiative with emphasis on combating childhood obesity through good nutrition, physical activity, and healthy choices; 2) medication assistance for low-income individuals; and 3) health literacy.

We invite you to explore our site, where you can find data on Kentucky’s rural Delta counties, information on our project activities, and links to additional resources.
